We all have the burning desire in our hearts to present ourselves at the doorstep of the Ka’bah and fulfill the blessed rites of hajj. Some are fortunate enough to perform hajj once in a lifetime, some twice in a lifetime, and there are the select few who are extremely fortunate as they perform hajj annually.

However, Allah Ta‘ala, in His infinite kindness, has made it such that even those who cannot journey to Makkah Mukarramah to perform hajj are able to acquire the reward of hajj. Furthermore, they can do it from the comfort of their own homes!

Below are two such actions through which one can perform ‘Hajj from Home’:

Buraidah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports: “I heard that Mu‘aaz bin Jabal (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) had captured a Jinn during the lifetime of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam). I thus went to Mu‘aaz (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) and asked him regarding this incident. Mu‘aaz (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) narrated the following to me:

“Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) had entrusted the dates of sadaqah to me for safekeeping. Thus, I placed these dates in one of my rooms. However, I would daily find that the dates had decreased. So I went to Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) and complained to him of the dates decreasing, to which Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, ‘It is the work of a Shaitaan. Wait for him in ambush.’

The following is the first hand account of a female American doctor who accepted Islam due to a young Muslimah’s piety:

I am a gynaecologist and have been working in a hospital in America for the past eight years. Last year, a young, Muslim, Arab girl arrived in the hospital in the throes of labour. The labour pain was naturally severe and excruciating, yet I did not witness even a single tear fall from the eyes of this young girl.

Nevertheless, my shift was nearing its end, and so I informed the young girl that I would be going home and that another doctor (who was a male) would be arriving shortly to deliver her child. Whereas this young girl had not shed a single tear or emitted a single moan or complaint until now, on hearing that I was leaving, she suddenly began to cry and moan earnestly while insisting, “No! No! Not a man!”

(Respected Wife of Dr. Hafeezullah Madani [rahimahullah] - Part Two)

Dr. Kareemullah Makki, the son of Dr. Hafeezullah Madani (rahimahullah), mentioned the following regarding his respected mother:

‘A child’s first classroom is the mother’s lap’ is a well known adage. Alhamdulillah, we were blessed to be raised in the ‘classroom’ of my mother, who was extremely pious and blessed in all aspects of Deen. On account of her piety, she strove to instil within us (her children) piety and the values and mindset of Islam, and was thus very particular regarding our behaviour and actions. In fact, she would continuously monitor every action of ours and correct us where necessary.
