The fashions and trends of the day are always changing. This it self is a clear sign of its deficiency. The creation of Allah Ta’ala never changes. Human beings are not changed to look like birds, and flowers are not changed to look like leaves. This is an indication of the perfection in the creation of Allah Ta’ala. There is no need for any change or improvement.

Put an End to Photography

Alhamdulillah most people are well aware that all forms of photography are forbidden. Many who previously indulged in this sin have stopped taking photographs which indeed is a blessing from Allah Ta’ala. However we are still keeping and holding on to our past photographs. Those albums with our old photographs are still kept safely in our drawers. Let us complete our repentance from the sin of photography, by destroying all our past photographs. If they are stored anywhere, erase them without delay. Unfortunately with the new technology, filming and taking pictures has become a widespread calamity. Let us protect ourselves and our families from all forms of photography. Let us destroy all evidence of our past sin of photography. Likewise we should ensure that the clothes, toys and surroundings of our children are free of all animate pictures, as these keep the angels away.

Once while Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) and the Sahaabah (radiyallahu anhum) were on a journey, there was a heavy downpour which caused them to be drenched. Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) hung his clothes on a nearby tree and lay down to rest beneath it. The Ghatfaan tribe who were till then enemies of Islam saw this to be an opportune moment to assassinate Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam). Hence they challenged Du’thoor, a gallant young man, to accomplish this task. They said: “Muhammad is lying down all alone under that tree. All his companions are scattered about. Why don’t you finish him off?”

The Most Unqualified Occupation

Every effort of deen has a code of conduct with established rules and principles. In order to be part of any effort of deen, together with the necessary abilities and capabilities, the basic requirement is complete submission to the code and conduct. Those who submit in this way, progress tremendously. On the other hand there are those who do not wish to submit and take part in any effort of deen. They simply object and criticise the sincere efforts of others without any valid reason. This is the easiest thing to do, as it requires absolutely no qualification. Thus, a person who has no ability or capability to do something constructive for the deen of Allah Ta’ala, now becomes destructive by engaging himself/herself in objecting and criticising the effort of others. Since he/she lacks the ability to do anything, he/she will now try to undo the good work of others. This happens due to the absence of submission in a person’s life. Submission paves the path towards progress. However, if making baseless objections becomes one’s habit, one’s life will be spent objecting against others, eventually leading to one’s own destruction.

Shaikhul Hind Moulana Mahmoodul Hasan Deobandi (rahimahullah) was a great saint and scholar of his time. He would tend to his qurbaani cow for the entire year. He would personally wash and feed the animal. The cow would also become very attached to him. When he would leave his home to deliver the lessons of Saheeh Bukhaari and other books of hadith at Darul Uloom Deoband, it would follow him right to the madrasah gate where it would sit down. When he would return at noon after lessons, it would follow him back home.
