Home General Strive to Bring Alive The Better Connection

What is "Strive to Bring Aive"

The purpose of this column is to motivate and encourage everyone to make an attempt to bring alive the very simple actions that will be presented every two weeks. Insha-Allah by making these very easy actions part of our daily lives, we will benefit from the blessings of practising on these a’amaal and they will also become a stepping stone towards doing greater actions.
As a means of encouragement to others, and also to spur us ahead, a vote counter has been attached. The idea is that for two weeks every person reading this column should make an effort to practice on the ‘amal (action) presented. At the end of the two weeks, those who have practiced upon it for at least one week or more should vote “YES.” This will Insha-Allah encourage others also to do the same.

The Better Connection

GPRS… 3G… HSPA… 4G – and the next will perhaps be 5G. It appears that from the inception of the cell phone, man has remained obsessed with maintaining and enhancing his network connection. Hence, people select their network operator based on network coverage, and many opt for fiber over LTE, as the connection is faster and more reliable.

However, if the cell phone connects us with other people, then it is raising our hands in du‘aa that ‘connects’ us with Allah Ta‘ala and allows us to communicate with Him. Hence, just as there are times and places where cell phone coverage is enhanced, making it more likely for the call or message to go through, there are also times and places where our ‘connection’ of du‘aa is enhanced. As a result, the du‘aa made at such a time or place is more likely to ‘go through’ and gain acceptance.

On one occasion, a Sahaabi asked Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), “Which du‘aa is quickest to gain acceptance?” Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) replied, “)The du‘aa made at) the middle of the last portion (i.e. the last third) of the night, and (the du‘aa made) after the fardh salaahs.”(Sunan Tirmizi #3499)

While many people struggle to rise from their beds to perform Tahajjud Salaah and make du‘aa to Allah Ta‘ala, every person has to perform the five times daily salaah. Hence, to avail of this unique time of acceptance and raise one’s hands in du‘aa will only take a few minutes and can easily be implemented by all. Furthermore, it will result in great benefit being received.

In essence, we should not be hasty to rise from the musalla and ‘flee’ after performing salaah, as if we are escaping from some tedious, unpleasant task (Allah Ta‘ala forbid!). Instead, we should raise our hands to Allah Ta‘ala and beg Him to fulfill all our needs. Our marriage problems, children difficulties, family issues, financial challenges, acute and chronic illnesses – this is the time to pour out our hearts to Allah Ta‘ala and beg Him for help. Allah Ta‘ala is prepared to open His treasures to us – all we have to do is ask.
