Home General Strive to Bring Alive An ‘Army’ of Angels Engaged in Du‘aa

What is "Strive to Bring Alive"

The purpose of this column is to motivate and encourage everyone to make an attempt to bring alive the very simple actions that will be presented every two weeks. Insha-Allah by making these very easy actions part of our daily lives, we will benefit from the blessings of practising on these a’amaal and they will also become a stepping stone towards doing greater actions.
As a means of encouragement to others, and also to spur us ahead, a vote counter has been attached. The idea is that for two weeks every person reading this column should make an effort to practice on the ‘amal (action) presented. At the end of the two weeks, those who have practiced upon it for at least one week or more should vote “YES.” This will Insha-Allah encourage others also to do the same.

An ‘Army’ of Angels Engaged in Du‘aa

Sayyiduna Ma’qil bin Yasaar (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “Whoever recites the following three times in the morning:

I seek protection in Allah, the All-Hearing and All-Knowing, from the rejected Shaitaan

And thereafter recites the last three verses of Surah Hashr, Allah Ta‘ala will appoint seventy thousand angels to make du‘aa for him until the evening, and if he passes away during that day, he will receive the rank of a martyr. And whoever recites it in the evening, he will enjoy the same virtue until the morning.” (Sunan Tirmizi #2922)

The last three verses of Surah Hashr are:

In this hadeeth, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) has taught us an easy method to secure not only the du‘aa of seventy thousand angels - but also an easy method to acquire the rank of a martyr. As explained above, one will first recite the specific version of a‘oozu three times, and one will thereafter recite the three verses once.

The commentators of hadeeth have explained that the angels making du‘aa for this person refers to them beseeching Allah Ta‘ala to forgive his sins, bless him with the ability to carry out righteous works, etc. (Mirqaat vol. 4, pg. 667)

Through a person punctually reciting this du‘aa every morning and evening, he will enjoy the perpetual du‘aa of the angels. Furthermore, when he passes away, he will insha-Allah enjoy the status of a martyr.

May Allah Ta‘ala bless us all to practice on this punctually.
