Home General Strive to Bring Alive A Phone Call Away

What is "Strive to Bring Alive"

The purpose of this column is to motivate and encourage everyone to make an attempt to bring alive the very simple actions that will be presented every two weeks. Insha-Allah by making these very easy actions part of our daily lives, we will benefit from the blessings of practising on these a’amaal and they will also become a stepping stone towards doing greater actions.
As a means of encouragement to others, and also to spur us ahead, a vote counter has been attached. The idea is that for two weeks every person reading this column should make an effort to practice on the ‘amal (action) presented. At the end of the two weeks, those who have practiced upon it for at least one week or more should vote “YES.” This will Insha-Allah encourage others also to do the same.

A Phone Call Away

Nowadays many people generally only meet family members on the occasion of a death or a wedding in the family. While it may not be possible to travel and meet family members who live long distances away from us, we can occasionally give them a phone call just to greet them and find out as to how they are keeping. We will be surprised as to what du‘aas and supplications a simple phone call can earn for ourselves. Perhaps an old aunt is bedridden and feeling very low on that day, just at that time you called, and her spirits are boosted once again. Your voice brings a smile to her face and her heart instantaneously flows with du‘aas for you. We tend to forget that our progress and achievements are very often due to the du‘aas of those around us. At times we focus on the big things in life, forgetting that even the little things really do count.
