What is "Strive to Bring Alive"

The purpose of this column is to motivate and encourage everyone to make an attempt to bring alive the very simple actions that will be presented every two weeks. Insha-Allah by making these very easy actions part of our daily lives, we will benefit from the blessings of practising on these a’amaal and they will also become a stepping stone towards doing greater actions.
As a means of encouragement to others, and also to spur us ahead, a vote counter has been attached. The idea is that for two weeks every person reading this column should make an effort to practice on the ‘amal (action) presented. At the end of the two weeks, those who have practiced upon it for at least one week or more should vote “YES.” This will Insha-Allah encourage others also to do the same.

Feed the Fasting

Nabi (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said: “He who feeds a fasting person (at the time of iftaar), it becomes a means of forgiveness and freedom from the fire of janhanum for him. He will (also) receive the same reward as the fasting person without the reward of the fasting person decreasing.” The Sahaaba (radiyallahu anhum) asked: “O Rasul of Allah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), not every one of us has the ability to feed a fasting person.” Nabi (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said: “(This reward does not depend on feeding a person to his full), Allah Ta‘ala gives this reward to the one who gives a fasting person a date, or a sip of water or a sip of milk.” (Saheeh Ibni Khuzaimah #1887)

Allah Ta‘ala has made it so easy for us to earn our forgiveness and freedom from the fire of hell. All we need to do is to simply feed a fasting person whatever is within our means. In doing so, we also receive the same reward as the fasting person. How generous our Allah Ta‘ala is! It is for us to put ourselves forward and take from the unlimited treasures of Allah Ta‘ala. Let us strive to feed those who are fasting and encourage others to do the same as well.
