How to Enter Jannah

Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said, “When a woman performs her five daily salaah, keeps the fast of Ramadaan, remains chaste and pure, and she obeys her husband then she may enter Jannah through whichever door she desires.” (Saheeh Ibnu Hibbaan #4163)

Subhanallah! What a simple prescription for women to gain everlasting success. A woman has to simply do the following:

- Be obedient to Allah Ta’ala.

- Protect one’s chastity. This requires that she does not intermingle with  strange men, lower her gaze, and fully cover herself if she leaves the home out of necessity.

- Be obedient to her husband within the limits of deen.

While this is the prescription for the everlasting success of the hereafter, it is also the prescription for harmony and happiness in one’s marriage.

Maryam (alaihas salaam) was very pious from a young age. She used to miraculously receive fruit which were not even in season. When Zakariyya (alaihis salaam) would ask her as to where she was receiving all this fruit from, she would reply, “From Allah”. When she came of age, solely through the power of Allah Ta’ala she fell pregnant without any man touching her. It was from this pregnancy that Isa (alaihis salaam) was born. Since she gave birth without being married to a man, the Jews began accusing her of adultery. In order to prove them wrong, Allah Ta’ala gave Isa (alaihis salaam) the power to speak while he was still a baby. Those who had a sense of justice agreed that this was an example of Allah Ta’ala’s power, that Isa (alaihis salaam) was in fact born without a father and that his mother was pure and innocent.

Lesson: The great lesson we learn is that when one is devoted to Allah Ta’ala, He will provide for one from unseen sources and remove all one’s difficulties.

A person who was taken aback by the honour given to Luqman (alaihis salaam) once approached him and asked: “Are you the very same Luqman who was a slave of the Banu Has-haas tribe?” Luqman (alaihis salaam) replied: “Yes!” The man then asked: “Are you the very same person who used to herd sheep?” Luqman (alaihis salaam) replied: “Yes!” The person asked yet again: “Are you the very same person with a dark complexion?” Luqman (alaihis salaam) replied: “My dark complexion is quite visible and clear to one and all, but what is it that really astonishes you regarding me?” The man replied: “I am astonished that people flock to your gathering and eagerly accept your advice.” Luqman (alaihis salaam) then advised him saying: “Young man! You can also receive this very same rank and honour provided you adhere to the following aspects:

The fashions and trends of the day are always changing. This it self is a clear sign of its deficiency. The creation of Allah Ta’ala never changes. Human beings are not changed to look like birds, and flowers are not changed to look like leaves. This is an indication of the perfection in the creation of Allah Ta’ala. There is no need for any change or improvement.

Alhamdulillah most people are well aware that all forms of photography are forbidden. Many who previously indulged in this sin have stopped taking photographs which indeed is a blessing from Allah Ta’ala. However we are still keeping and holding on to our past photographs. Those albums with our old photographs are still kept safely in our drawers. Let us complete our repentance from the sin of photography, by destroying all our past photographs. If they are stored anywhere, erase them without delay. Unfortunately with the new technology, filming and taking pictures has become a widespread calamity. Let us protect ourselves and our families from all forms of photography. Let us destroy all evidence of our past sin of photography. Likewise we should ensure that the clothes, toys and surroundings of our children are free of all animate pictures, as these keep the angels away.
