Depressed after an Illicit Relationship

Tuesday, 11 September 2012 11:02

Assalamu alaikum

I am a muslim girl brought up in a well religious muslim family. But I have committed sin. I am in love with a guy who doesn't care about me at all. Throughout the whole time that I've known him he has only hurt me by having affairs with other girls. I have known him for a few years in which we had lost contact and recently started to talk again since last year. I have had relations with him a few times and I got pregnant. When I told him he said he wants nothing to do with me or the baby and he left me. I cried and begged him to support me because I was scared but he didn't care at all. I wanted to keep the baby but then I had to think about my family also as I am only young. He didn't want to support me with the abortion so I told him I am keeping the baby and that he will have nothing to do with it once it is born.

Once a man from the Bani Israeel passed by a sand dune at a time when people were suffering with hunger due to drought and famine. He thought to himself: “Had I possessed food equivalent to the granules of sand in this sand dune, I would have distributed every bit of it amongst these people to relieve them of their hunger.” Allah Ta’ala sent revelation to the Nabi of that time: “Inform that man that Allah Ta’ala has acknowledged and appreciated your noble intention and has hence recorded for you the reward of spending that amount of food in charity.” (Mirqaat-ul-Mafateeh, vol.1, pg.100)

Diamond for a Stone

People generally abandon their own culture and identity, and they borrow from cultures of others due to following their base desires or for some personal benefit or due to having an inferiority complex. As Muslims we need to remind ourselves that all the temporary pleasures of this world will one day come to an end. Eternal enjoyment is only in Paradise. We also need to remind ourselves that Allah Ta’ala, our creator, knows what is most beneficial for us. Thus all our benefits lie in the teachings of Islam.

Doctor Panelbeater

Imagine that one day a panel beater wakes up in the morning and he thinks to himself: “My entire life I have been working on car bodies, it is time I start working on human bodies.”  Acting on this thought of his, he opens a little surgery next to his workshop, where he boldly carries out open-heart surgery. And how does he do it? He simply places the patient on the workshop bench and next to him is the medical textbook lying open. He reads the first line, “cut there!” So he goes over to the patient’s chest and he cuts there. Then he reads the next instruction, “Put your hand in and take it out!” So he puts his hands in, but instead of taking out the heart, he pulls out the liver.
