Home Mother's Corner

Introduction

Children love stories, and good stories have valuable lessons in them. Thus a very easy way to instil morals and values in our children is through story-telling. In this section, we will be guided as to how to present stories to our children and how to follow them up with lessons.

Ask our children:

1. If it is your desire to buy a very expensive toy, and for this you save all your spending money everyday, after one month will you take all your money that was saved and throw it away?

2. If you spent the whole day building a huge sandcastle, then when it is just about complete will you take a spade and break it down?

3. If it was a very hot day and you managed to fast the entire day and there is one minute remaining for the sun to set, will you have a sip of water and break your fast a minute before it’s time?

Ask our children:

1. Before we do anything, should we tell our parents first?

2. If Allah Ta’ala has given more than we need, should we share with the poor?

Now tell them the story:

Once there was a little boy. He was very kind and loving and he always listened to his mother and father. Every morning he used to have a good breakfast and then go to madrasah with four slices of lunch - two slices for the first break and the remaining two slices for the second break.

After one month of madrasah, his mother noticed that he had lost weight. It was strange to see him return home every afternoon very weak and extremely hungry. She was quite worried, so she asked him if there was anything troubling him. He at once said that everything was fine.

Ask our children:

1. If a mother and father love their child, will they do anything to harm the child?

2. Must we listen to our parents who care for us, or should we follow our friends who always dare us and challenge us?

3. Who is more important, our parents or friends?

Ask our children:

1. “Does the rain fall drop by drop or does it flow down like a waterfall?”

2. “When a builder puts up a wall, does he pile all the bricks together at one time or does he lay brick by brick until the wall is complete?”

3. “When we eat our food, do we put all the food into our mouth at one time or do we eat morsel by morsel?”

Now relate to them the following story:
