Ask Our Children:

1. Who gives us everything?

2. Should we rush to do things or should we first find out from people who know?

3. If someone does not understand something, what should we do?

Now Tell Them The Story:

‘Abdullah was a simple farmer who lived in a small, small village, far, far away from the busy city. In ‘Abdullah’s village, there was no water and no electricity. So everyday, ‘Abdullah would go to the river to fetch water and go to the forest to fetch fire wood.

Ask our children:

1. Would you like to have a neat and clean friend or a friend who is dirty and smelly?

2. How often should we clip our nails?

3. Should we go to madrasah in the afternoon?

Now tell them the story:

Arshad was a lazy boy, especially when it came to being clean and tidy. Before he ate, he would not let anyone wash his hands, even though they were black and dirty from playing the whole day! He would not allow anyone to cut his nails, even though they were full of dirt! It was only when he was fast asleep that his mother would be able to quietly clip his nails.

Ask your children:

1. What should we do when we are in difficulty?

2. Who should we turn to for help?

3. How should we treat the poor?

Now tell them the story:

Ismaa‘eel was a little boy who always had a smile on his face. He was very hardworking and Allah Ta‘ala had made him intelligent. He always came out first in madrasah and it was his dream to become a pious Moulana one day.

Once, Ismaa‘eel’s father suddenly fell very ill! His sickness became worse and worse, until three days later, he passed away. Because his mother was alone, Ismaa‘eel had to leave madrasah and help her at home. They had very little money, and sometimes there was no food in the home for days. Ismaa‘eel and his mother would be starving, but they never ever complained or begged. They remained patient and happy with whatever Allah Ta‘ala had decided for them.

Immediately, her mother stopped Saarah from saying another word and said to her, “Saarah! You have eaten the flesh of your Muslim sister!”

Ask our children:

When we want to do something, what should we say?

Now tell them the story:

Once, there was a little boy named ‘Ali whose parents loved him very much. His parents loved him so much that they always gave him whatever he wanted.

One day, ‘Ali went to his father and said, “Daddy! Please give me R15!” His father asked him, “Why do you want R15, ‘Ali? What do you want to buy?” ‘Ali replied, “I want to go to the sweet shop and buy a whole slab of chocolate! I think I’m going to buy a Top Deck!” “Ok, here you go, and make sure that you look after it, because I won’t give you more money this week!” said his father, giving him the money.
