Sayyiduna Jaabir (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “Whoever recites durood (sends salutations) upon me one hundred times daily, Allah Ta‘ala will fulfil one hundred of his needs; seventy of the Hereafter and thirty of this world.” (Ibnu Mandah – Al Qowlul Badee’ pg. 277)
Whether it relates to a shortage of money, ill health, disobedient children, inconsiderate in-laws or any other problem – every person has needs. In this hadeeth, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) teaches us that the daily recitation of one hundred durood is the solution to all our needs and problems. Furthermore, on the Day of Qiyaamah (may Allah Ta‘ala make that day easy for us all – aameen), we will have needs as well. Through reciting this number of durood daily, seventy needs of the Hereafter will be taken care of.
To recite one hundred durood daily is not an arduous or difficult task. All it requires is commitment and determination. One easy way through which this great virtue could be acquired is for us to resolve that we will recite twenty durood after every salaah. In this manner, we will complete one hundred durood daily.
While we should try to recite longer formulas of durood, the least is to recite the very concise and easy formula of “sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam”. This will hardly take us any time and we will very easily earn the great virtue. It will take less than three minutes even if recited carefully. Can we then afford to deprive ourselves? Go ahead – try it now!
May Allah Ta‘ala bless us all with the true love of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), and may He fulfil all our needs of this world and the next.
