Correspondence of Hazrat Moulana Yunus Patel Saheb (rahimahullah)

Letter:

Asalaam Mu Alaikum Maulana

I am married for several years. Shukr alhamdullilah I love my husband and he loves me and we have a good relationship. However, we have a problem commonly found in other marriages which has become serious: my husband is not happy with my cooking. I try very hard to make the kind of food he likes by looking for new recipes, asking my mother-in-law etc but he is always unhappy. When he doesn’t like it, he gets very upset and angry and sometimes he has come close to giving me one ‘talaaq’ – astagfirrullah. I don’t know what to do, as I love him and try so hard but he is rarely happy. He is a very fussy man and has high expectations which I can’t seem to meet, no matter how hard I have tried. When I got married I didn’t know how to cook, so I tried very quickly to learn, am learning everyday, but I am still unable to please him. Please can you give me some guidance and make dua for my marriage and for myself.

JazakAllah

Yes. It is very unfortunate and sad that cooking is made an issue by many husbands. When they put a proposal sometimes they are even told by the prospective bride’s parents that she is just out of school and will not be able  to cook. At that time all promises are made that there is no problem. In any case since your matter is serious where he has threatened with Talaq, you should immediately consult some senior family member or Alim to explain to your husband the serious consequences of his attitude.

Also read your five times Salaah and read ‘Hasbunallahu Wa Nimal Wakeel’ 11 times after every Salah with Durood Sharif three times before and after and make a lot of dua. Read ‘Bimillahir Rahmanir Raheem ‘ 7 times and blow on the food that you’ll eat, making dua that Allah Ta’ala make it pleasing to him.

Making dua.

Was Salaamu alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh
