Question:
Assalaamu ‘alaikum
Respected ‘Ulama
I would like to know what du‘aa one can recite for an increase in rizq. Insha-Allah I will be having a baby soon and I will need to leave work to take care of my child. I only work because I have to help my husband, as what he earns is not sufficient for us, even though we live a rather simple life and basically just meet our expenses every month.
I hope that Allah Ta‘ala will open some avenue for us so that I don’t have to work. It really stresses me out as I don’t know what we will do – especially since a baby is coming and we will have extra expenses.
I know that Allah Ta‘ala is the Provider and is taking care of us, but I do not want to be in a situation where I have to ask anyone for financial assistance. I daily read my Surah Waaqi‘ah. Is there anything else that I can read or do?

Respected Sister in Islam
When a child comes into this world, he comes with his own rizq. Rizq is not confined to food. It includes every need. Be content and have firm yaqeen that Allah Ta‘ala will provide from His unseen treasures.
Among the aspects upon which the promise of rizq has been mentioned in the Quraan and Sunnah are the following:
1. Taqwa: In short, this refers to refraining from all sin, as sin becomes a barrier from rizq.
2. Punctuality on salaah.
3. Sadaqah: Regularly giving something, even if it is just R1 a day.
4. Excessive istighfaar: As often as you can comfortably manage, keep reciting “Astaghfirullah”.
If you wish to do something from home which will bring some income, provided it is manageable and within limits, it is fine.
May Allah Ta‘ala bless you with a pious and healthy child and fulfil all your needs from His unseen treasures.
