How long after a proposal is it advisable to make nikaah?

Wa ‘alaikumus salaam wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) advised Sayyiduna ‘Ali (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) saying: “O ‘Ali! Don’t delay in three matters: salaah when its (mustahab) time enters, a janaazah when it is ready, (the marriage of) an unmarried person when a suitable partner is found” (Sunan Tirmizi #171)
From this blessed hadeeth, we understand that once a suitable proposal has been accepted, the nikaah should be performed without unnecessary delay. Neglecting this noble instruction of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) often opens the door to haraam interaction between the boy and girl, along with many other evils, complications, and baseless customs.
Therefore, the nikaah should be performed as soon as possible.
