A Unique Mahr for a Unique Woman
‘Alaaud Deen Muhammad bin Ahmad Samarqandi (rahimahullah) was an esteemed hanafi jurist of the 6th century. He authored the renowned masterpiece in jurisprudence, “Tuhfatul Fuqahaa,” a work that remains widely respected to this day.
Following in her father’s footsteps, his daughter, Faatimah Samarqandiyyah (rahimahallah) was also well-versed in jurisprudence and earned the distinction of being a “Faqeehah” (a female jurist). Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar (radhiyallahu ‘anhuma) narrates that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) would never leave out the following du‘aa in the morning and in the evening:
اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّيْ أَسْأَلُكَ الْعَافِيَةَ فِيْ الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ ، اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّيْ أَسْأَلُكَ الْعَفْوَ وَالْعَافِيَةَ فِيْ دِيْنِيْ وَدُنْيَايَ وَأَهْلِيْ وَمَالِيْ ، اَللّٰهُمَّ اسْتُرْ عَوْرَاتِيْ وَآمِنْ رَوْعَاتِيْ ، اَللّٰهُمَّ احْفَظْنِيْ مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيَّ وَمِنْ خَلْفِيْ وَعَن يَّـمِيْنِيْ وَعَنْ شِـمَالِيْ وَمِنْ فَوْقِيْ ، وَأَعُوْذُ بِعَظَمَتِكَ أَنْ أُغْتَالَ مِنْ تَـحْتِيْ
